This painting is of a scene that I have grown up witnessing and always wanted to put to paint. Finally, in the last year, I felt like I could possibly do it justice. Soon I hope that I can maybe paint it bigger than 4x4! This is a shrimp boat that can be seen from Highway 278 as you are leaving Hilton Head Island and crossing onto the mainland, Bluffton. Such a beautiful scene in the Lowcountry that is fast disappearing.

In other news, my husband and I are off for the week to Vietnam. We are headed to Saigon, one of our favorite cities, then we thought we would try a beach in Vietnam - Mui Ne. Supposedly the kite surfing is grand, so we're going to try and catch a wave or two, wish us luck! My husband just finished working 55 days straight (no days off!) so I think he deserves a bit of a break. I'm happy to tag along ;).

This was a fun little street corner in NYC from my visit there last spring. I still have so many fantastic reference photos from that trip. And as I keep on working and improving and seeing things with a new eye, I'll see another photo that catches my eye that I ignored before, or seemed to difficult. I really loved the shadows and light on the awning.

In other news (drumroll please)... WE GOT A DISHWASHER! Well, let's just say it has finally been installed. Dishwashers are a huge luxury over here. You almost never see them. But they aren't the unicorns of Singapore quite like automatic ice machines and garbage disposals. Those just don't exist. So yes, in typical Singapore fashion, our dishwasher has been installed and hooked up to the closest water line. Alas, the power cord does not even get close reaching an outlet. Why am I not surprised?

This is another quick little flower study that I did. I am almost finished with this huge painting of the container yard. It is coming along quite nicely, but it is such the challenge. I'm also working on the series from my California roadtrip, I have a couple done, I'm just waiting for them to dry!
